Approaches, systems and tools for workforce competence assessment, used in the Bulgarian companies

The study was conducted jointly by the Bulgarian Industrial Association (BIA) and the Bulgarian Association for Management and Human Resource Development (BHRMDA) among 100 companies. 60% of respondents operating in Sofia and the region (approximately 60%), followed by Varna (36%), Plovdiv (19%), Stara Zagora (16%), Bourgas (13%) and Pleven (12%). From the branches represented most strongly represented production (22%), sea and river transport (13%), wholesale and retail (12 and 11%), banking and financial services and state structures (with 8%).

Current state and issues in assessing workforce competences on national, sectoral and regional level

Among the main objectives of the study is to identify opportunities to reduce the imbalance between demand and supply of skilled labor. A review of national policies, existing regulatory regimes and the responsible institutions and systems in the field of vocational training and education is made. Special attention is paid to regional and sectoral policies and practices in this area, as well as corporate training programs for the workforce.
