The analysis examines the current state of the sectors and regions in Bulgaria’s economy by studying the aggregated indicators and respective enterprises included, as well as the companies themselves in comparison to the others. The analysis objective is to generate an alternative selection of leading sectors and regions which could be taken into consideration in the implementation of BIA’s project within Human Resources Development Operational Programme, as well as to introduce the leading companies in the respective sectors and to file their contacts into a united system.

The analysis assesses the impact which the technologies and innovations exert on the development of the main economic activities, as well as on the vocational and qualification structure of the employed people in the Bulgarian economy. This analysis shall facilitate the development and of a Workforce Competence Assessment System by Sectors and Regions – which is the main objective of the project executed by BIA.

The analysis presents an overview of the macroeconomic situation of the country in the period 2005-2009. A special methodology for classifying economic sectors and branches based on their potential and progress with the aim of foreseeing those job positions, qualification and skills which are necessary for Bulgaria’s future economic development, has been designed and attached to the analysis. By applying this methodology, over 20 basic sectors and 10 regions have been selected to be further analyzed and to build up the  Competence Assessment System (CASSY).
